Blue View Sentinel
Blue View Sentinel monitors an organization's network: switches, wireless access points, servers, virtual machines and the other devices plugged into them. It keeps their history and their logs, and it tells the right people when something needs attention.
Where it stands
Sentinel runs today at an early-adopter school district, where it shows live data for its switches, servers and virtualization cluster. General availability is planned for 2027. Until then we work with a small number of organizations directly.
What it does
- Finds every device. It reads the tables your switches already keep, so wired, wireless and virtual devices are listed with the switch and port they use, and a device it has never seen is announced.
- Watches health and traffic. CPU, memory, temperature, fans, power and every port, collected every minute over SNMPv3.
- Keeps the logs. Devices send their logs to Sentinel, which files them by device and date and makes them searchable.
- Alerts once. Rules are tuned for a school network, and a failed switch is reported once rather than once for every device behind it.
- Shows its evidence. A value Sentinel does not have is shown as missing. Findings list the measurements behind them.
How it is built
Sentinel is a Go service with a web dashboard, storing data in PostgreSQL. It speaks SNMP, syslog and OpenTelemetry, publishes a REST API, and offers an MCP server so agentic tools can work with it under your rules: they read what you allow, and anything that would change something asks a person first and is recorded.
Your data
Sentinel monitors equipment, not people. It does not record which person uses a device. Your monitoring data stays in a database you control, on your server or in a service Blue View runs for you.
